Friends!! Happy New Year 2021!! One thing I am SO proud of myself for this year is for giving myself some SPACE to ease into this new year, before I jumped down my goals and reflections! Maybe we are all just giving ourselves permission after the crazy year we had last year, just to BE a little more. I’ve also been doing a lot of mentoring sessions with photographers starting out this new year, which has been so much fun!
Now it’s finally time for me to start doing some reflecting on last year on the blog! PHEW. I know it was a doozy for all of us, really knocked us over at first and we all had to find our way amidst this pandemic. But looking back, and especially seeing these images…I can see how I still was able to CREATE and do what I LOVE, even amidst the crazy year.
Weddings definitely looked different! I will do a separate post on intimate weddings soon…but it was crazy for me that I was supposed to photograph 15 and ended up photographing 4! Most of my couples postponed to this year, but a few of them were just ready to be MARRIED and I was all for it!! It was so cool seeing each couple each have their wedding so differently, and I have to tell you I wanted to cheer on these couples SO HARD for making it happen with all the unknowns! 2020 weddings will always have a special place in my heart.
Once the spring came, I really started getting busy again with engagement sessions, maternity sessions and my new favorite thing…ANNIVERSARY sessions! It was such a joy to photograph more of those and to see couples choose to cherish those memories after their marriage!
Another thing that was AWESOME about last year was the two courses I taught, my Winter Business Refresh course and my Full Wedding Workshop (in the fall). They were both DREAMS come true and being able to impact photographers and encourage them on their journey just makes me come so alive! I can’t wait to see what this year held after witnessing last year!
I don’t usually do this post in this format, but I decided to post the images chronologically because I feel like it makes more sense for the way I want to remember 2020!
I hope you enjoy all of these, all beautiful memories and I’m grateful to have captured them this year!
2020 started with my Winter Business Refresh Course in Cazenovia! Lindsay and Joe were the SWEETEST models, and it was so fun to travel to this nearby waterfall with the attending photographers!
Loved loved this bouquet!
And these gorgeous table settings and cake…WOW.
Jumping ahead to my first wedding, which wasn’t until JUNE 2020…Amy and Mike had a 25 person wedding at Wolf Oak Acres! They love the outdoors so we had to get some shots by this waterfall!
Just love these sweet smiles!
Loved the way their bridal party celebrated them! And…embraced Covid, masks and all!
My second wedding was Rachel & Nick’s! They also had a 25 person wedding at Highland Forest! The view was amazing and I loved seeing how HAPPY they were just to be married!
Loved the woodland vibes and their attire!
LOVE these joyful images so much!
Then, we continued their portraits at this state park and this blue water was out of this world amazing!!
I loved how they were up for ANY adventure!
This water shot was SO EPIC and my most liked photo of the year!!
Then, I photographed Brittany & Devin’s engagement in Cazenovia, at places they love to hang out! I love this shot by the lake!
And LOVED their use of the American flag too!
Love their joy so much, so contagious!
Then I got to travel to photograph this amazing photographer’s engagement – Cristina Fenner. What an honor to capture HER memories with Dustin as they prepare for their own marriage now!
So so sweet!
This location was special to them and where Dustin proposed to Cristina!
Loved this ending and the glowy sun…SO summer!
Okay, THIS right here was awesome! I got to photograph Hannah and Andrew’s 8th anniversary up north at this beach state park. Hannah always wished she could have had wedding photos on a beach…and Andrew made it happen! She even altered her original wedding dress and is still rocking it!LOVE all this joy! And jumping right into the waves…so much fun!
LOVE this one too!
They are just so cute! And I was loving these colors and this beach background!
LOVE this one with them and Hannah’s hat!
Okay…THESE TWO are some of my dearest friends. It was such a joy to capture Karen and Eric’s maternity session in Rochester! I can’t even believe their baby boy is almost 2 months old now…how time flies!
I just LOVE that joyful one of Karen!
Love that one on the right too – such sweet smiles!
At the end of summer and start of September, I photographed this amazing wedding for Kaitlin & Corey! They altered the location of their wedding and had a 50 person wedding at Our Farm in Manlius. But they rented this SWEET AirBnB on Cazenovia Lake and we loved using this dock for their first look! They are such cuties!
Loved this shot and her amazing bouquet by Spruce Ridge!
Loved this sweet moment too!
Okay, THIS was amazing. My first bridal party and confetti shot and I have to say, it was pretty epic!
I also enjoyed the vibes of their wedding at the farm with their sweet flower girl and ring bearer. And you can’t forget the cardboard cutout of one bridesmaid who couldn’t make it to their wedding because of Covid. This was such a fun idea!!
Love all this laughter!!
LOVE this, one of my favorites of them!
YAY!! I asked all my couples this year to do a shot like this…because they should really CELEBRATE that they got married this year!
Loved these night shots outside the Lincklaen House, where they had their reception. When we were outside this really nice guy who had a classic car parked on the street let us take pictures with his car…SO awesome!
Now onto meeting these two for their engagement session in Canandaigua! They found this really neat property for us to use, they loved the outdoorsy feel and tall grasses!
Love that shot with Ben’s truck and that RING shot!
Loved this one at this park on Canandaigua Lake with amazing trees framing them!Such sweet shots with their dog and this romantic swept-up moment!
This was a special shot not just because the light was amazing…but because it’s some of their last photographs with their dog Boomer. I am so grateful they brought him to the shoot so we could capture these memories.
Speaking of Canandaigua, I also went to Lincoln Hill Farms to capture my sweet friend Carianne’s maternity shoot with her husband Christian! We shot right after her baby shower ended, the light was PERFECT and so were these hops to frame them!
Loved loved these!
I was so excited to photograph ANOTHER anniversary session, this time for Raisa and David! They were married last year in PA, and the year before I was able to photograph their engagement in Ithaca at Cornell’s gardens. They wanted to go back again to do more photographs with me, and I was honored!
Love love these images!
And WOW this light and these orange flowers…amazing!
We went to a nearby vineyard after so they could take more photographs with their dog, Teddy! They got him during the pandemic and wanted to get some photos they could use on their Christmas card! I was obsessed with how cute this dog was!
And then I did another anniversary shoot for Stacey and Alex, who won my anniversary giveaway in February!! Stacey is an AMAZING cake artist who I work with all the time, but I had never photographed her with Alex before…and oh my were they ADORABLE together! What an honor!
LOVE these joyful shots!

In October I photographed my last full wedding for Claire & Jullien!! They were married at Best View Barn and had a 50 person wedding! It was so gorgeous, down to the last detail!I LOVED these bridal party shots! That one on the right was by Derek – great one honey!

And now…my very last wedding!! My cousin Christina married Eric, and asked me to photograph her ceremony and portraits! The wedding was back in Westchester, where I’m originally from. I was so honored! It’s so crazy, because Tina and I grew up with each other and knew each other as babies. Now she is happily married!

AHH love this one, the light, and peak foliage!
This one is so amazing too, loved those florals as foreground!
This looks so vogue I can’t even stand it!
LOVED this one too!
Then, in mid October, my dream came true and I taught my first FULL WEDDING workshop, at The Kester Homestead! I had 9 attending photographers, and it was an 8 hour long course, with a styled shoot planned by Events by Carianne and a sit down dinner by Little Yard Farm! It was a long day but SO fulfilling! And our models were amazing…I had met Whitney years ago at another course and it was fate that our paths connected again!
LOVE both of these…but especially the one on the left! You can feel that emotion!
Whitney (our bride model) was also our floral designer and designed this AMAZING arbor, I was speechless when I first saw it!
Our entire team of models were amazing! So thankful for all of them! And this tablescape design was out of this world!
At nighttime, I taught the photographers off camera flash in the barn…and I LOVED this shot so much! Their sweetheart table was just gorgeous too, and had all the warm whimsical vibes!
Now onto my last couple of fall engagement sessions! Olivia and AJ are getting married in their backyard in Hamilton this summer, and wanted to do their session there and at this nearby park with a pond that they love!
LOVE these laughing, joyful shots!
They decided to go in the water at the end! It was so epic!! It was chilly because it was fall…but I loved that they were up for the adventure!

This tree..I can’t EVEN it’s so beautiful!
They are so cute together I love it!
We chased the sunset across the street, and WOW did we get the golden light!
Now onto meeting Nicole and Spencer in Rochester! We had delayed their session from earlier in October as the leaves weren’t changed that much…I’m so glad we did, they definitely got some magical fall shots at the end! I loved this one though from Lamberton Conservatory!Loved both of these so much!! Fall and their smiles look great on them!

Speaking of warmth…this fireside shot was perfect.
What a magical sunset glow, ahh!!
Finally, my last engagement session of the year…Shannon and Chad! These two are amazing!
Loved the light in this field…SO perfect!
THIS…one of my favorite shots of the year!! I couldn’t believe this magic light! And that we got to go to the farm where Shannon rides her horse Stuie!
LOVE how romantic these are!
Love the glow, and the use of that hat!!
INCREDIBLE light, right?!
Such an inspiring end to the year! Can it get more romantic than riding horses into the sunset?!
