Happy Thursday, friends!! As you know I’ve been catching up on my summer blogging this week! And I HAD to share more of these two!
This is a special post for me because I am close with my bride Brittany’s family. When I heard Britt was close to getting engaged, I was SO excited for her! And so honored because she had decided to have me as her photographer, even then! I never take for granted a relationship as a reason why someone would choose me to photograph for them…so it really touched my heart.
Brittany and Devin met through YoungLife, a Christian organization that serves teenagers (one that Derek and I am involved in here in Cazenovia!). It took a little while for these two to go from the “friends” stage to there’s more here. They realized they both were attracted to each other and started dating, and knew God was leading their relationship.
Devin proposed to Brittany this summer on his family’s beautiful property (of course Brittany said yes!!), and they had a romantic catered dinner afterward, just the two of them. So sweet!! They are planning to be married next summer at Hayloft on the Arch, and I can’t wait! I told Britt that my best friend was married there 5 years ago, and it is a special place.
Since Devin is currently in school out of state, we had to capture their engagement this summer when they were spending time together! I knew we had to capture them on Cazenovia Lake, as Derek and I had seen them several times together on Brittany’s family boat! Boating is something they love to do in the summers together. And their boat is docked at The Brewster Inn, so we started their session on the grounds of The Brewster and on the docks! Then, instead of getting in a boat, they wanted to be captured in our canoe – they thought it was cute and adventurous (just like them)! Devin brought an American flag with him, because he told me when we met that he loved the American flag theme and might incorporate it into their wedding somehow. I loved this idea and encouraged them to bring it into their engagement, too!!
After our time at The Brewster, they wanted to take some pictures on Devin’s truck, so we parked right by the lake and took a few photos of them there. It was the perfect setting, and so romantic! LOVED all those pictures!
Brittany told me that she wanted to send their session with a beautiful sunset, so we drove to one of my favorite hills in Cazenovia which always has an amazing sunset!! We had a great time walking through a nearby field as the sun was still setting, and the light was just PERFECT! We then took their blanket over to the sunset hill and WOW the golden light was so beautiful! I loved too, seeing how playful they were by the end of our session, dancing and laughing together. It really gives me such joy in my work to see couples open up and be that joyful in front of my camera!
I am SO happy for these two and I hope you love Brittany and Devin’s engagement story! Cannot WAIT for next summer!
