Happy Friday, friends!! I hope you’re enjoying the holiday season so far! Derek and I loving the coziness of our home while preparing for Christmas in a few weeks! All these cozy vibes inspired me to post my last fall wedding today on the blog!!
I SO enjoyed being a part of this wedding day with Kara and Jim in Cooperstown! When I first met Kara, I found out that she was living in New Hampshire and met Jim in Troy! They decided to get married at Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown because it was a location super inspiring to both of them. Jim loves baseball (and even has a podcast about the Chicago White Sox!) and Kara loves breweries, because her dad owned one in the hometown where she grew up – in Alaska! So this was the perfect setting for them. They planned an intimate wedding with just their closest friends and family. And they couldn’t have had a more beautiful day!
Their wedding day was literally the PEAK fall day of the entire season! The skies were blue, temperature was perfect and the leaves were golden yellow as far as the eye could see! When I met Kara at her getting ready bed and breakfast, I loved her bridal details with the beautiful fall colors (her bouquet included my favorite, peach!) and seeing her get ready with her closest girlfriends and parents was so sweet. And Kara looked just gorgeous and radiant as a bride!
After Kara was ready, we had planned a first look with Jim under the famous Ommegang arch at the entrance to the brewery! Jim was standing there ready to see his bride. They had the sweetest moment together, and then we took portraits of the two of them. I was in photographer heaven with all the time in the world! We took portraits near the arch, climbed the hill to capture the whole brewery in the background, and then chased some magical golden trees. WOW those were some of my favorites! Then, we took family photographs under the arch before their guests arrived. As their guests arrived on the patio, Kara waited inside the brewery. Then, their ceremony began outside on the lawn.
Kara and Jim were so happy together, and their ceremony was officiated by a close friend of Kara’s. They had such a sweet and intimate ceremony with readings done by close relatives, and then they were pronounced husband and wife! Immediately after the ceremony, we captured Kara and Jim “cheers”-ing with Ommegang beer and under the arch! Then, they joined their friends and family inside the reception tent, where they had a cocktail hour with everyone mingling and talking.
After awhile of talking, their guests sat down for dinner and toasts! Both Kara and Jim’s dad gave toasts and there was lots of smiling and laughter! Then, their buffet dinner was served and everyone ate under the lights. After awhile, they served pie instead of cake – they had every type of pie, from apple to coconut to pumpkin and chocolate cream! Loved that personal detail!
Then, the staff at Ommegang started the bonfire outside, and when the fire started raging, Kara, Jim and their guests went outside to talk and enjoy the atmosphere! Before the end of the night, I took portraits with Kara and Jim by the fire – such a romantic way to end their evening!
