Happy almost-Thanksgiving, friends! I am so excited to blog these two JUST in time for the holiday! Thrilled to think they will look at their photos surrounded by friends and family, with the exact same vibe as their beautiful, intimate wedding!
Nicole found my work online, and I loved all of the random connections we shared! Nicole is from the exact same area in Westchester as I am from, and I noticed immediately that we share the same area code! She met Evan and started a life with him in Colorado, and Derek and I have dear friends and family who live there too. Meanwhile, Evan’s family owns a home on Cazenovia Lake, the same lake my mother in law has a boat! What crazy connections!
Evan is in the military, and on one of his times home after deployment, Nicole and Evan were married in Colorado but never were able to celebrate with a wedding!! They decided that this event was too important not to capture in pictures and have friends and family around to celebrate with them. So Nicole and Evan planned their wedding at The Brewster Inn, as they heard great things about it from Evan’s parents and even moreso as they researched. They invited only their closest friends and family, around 14 people, to celebrate with them. And Evan’s brother officiated their ceremony.
The Brewster was a perfect place for them, with its warm, cozy and intimate vibes, its elegant feel, and its location with beautiful scenery on Cazenovia Lake. When I arrived, Nicole, who is a hairstylist, was beautiful in her bridal robe and doing hair and makeup with her mom for her mother in law. What a talented family! I absolutely loved Nicole’s wedding gown, modern styled wedding ring and gorgeous fall bouquet by Spruce Ridge. I really enjoyed capturing her get dressed and her bridal portraits, Nicole looked so beautiful!!
Then, I visited Evan as he was getting ready with his dad, brothers and brother-in-law. Three of the men were in uniform and had served our country. Evan had given each of the guys Yeti mugs and put American flags on them. So epic!! Evan’s dad, mom, and brother helped him get dressed, and then all the guys went outside to take portraits on the lawn and on the dock on the lake. We took some really fun photos of them!
Because it was lightly raining, we had to make a weather call where to have the ceremony. We almost had it underneath the huge branches of an evergreen tree, but Nicole decided to have it inside by the elegant staircase. It really was so beautiful, their families looking cup at them, Evan waiting on the staircase as his bride walked down the staircase toward him. They had a beautiful ceremony by Evan’s brother and with a reading by Nicole’s sister, and then these two were again officially MARRIED!
We went outside to take portraits of Nicole and Evan, as by then the rain had lightened up!! The pictures of these two were SO beautiful, and you can really tell their joy, love and connection. I love the photos especially on the dock with the golden trees and foggy atmosphere of the lake! At the end of their portraits, Evan brought their Mr. Pig, a stuffed animal they take pictures with (almost like a Flat Stanley) at various events in their life. And they couldn’t miss this photo op!
After we were done with their portraits, we went inside for their formal sit down dinner with their friends and family. Everyone ordered, and then toasted to the beautiful couple all around the table! I loved being able to capture those moments!
Before it got dark, we took a few more photographs with Nicole and her sister, and then Nicole and Evan for some twilight photographs outside the front of the Brewster Inn with all the lights. A perfect way to end their day!
I hope Nicole and Evan’s story inspires your holiday weekend! They really have such a beautiful love! Thank you again Evan for your service to our country.
