Happy Friday, friends!! I am almost caught up blogging summer weddings – and SO thrilled to post this one today.
From the moment I spoke with Marika and Frank on the phone, I knew that they were both rare gems as people. Marika is a dancer and she has so much grace about her, as I can only imagine she does on the stage. I connected with her and the heart she had for her wedding immediately, and was excited about their wedding day ever since! I met Marika & Frank the week of their wedding in Skaneateles on a rainy night for photographs and tea. We talked for over an hour and I loved hearing more about them and it made me even more excited for this day!
When I arrived at the John Joseph Inn on their wedding day, Marika and her bridesmaids were in matching robes, getting ready and playing music. Some of her bridesmaids were also dancers and were already getting their moves on! Marika gave me all of her bridal details, which were so classy and elegant with whites and greens. She then opened her gift from Frank, and was already getting teary at his note to her! Marika also gave her mom a gift and shared a sweet moment together. Then, after taking photographs outside with her bridesmaids, Marika got dressed on the porch with her mom and sister, and she was as stunning as ever! Her dad shed a few tears when he saw her for the first time.
We all headed to Immaculate Conception Church in downtown Ithaca, where Frank was waiting for his bride at the altar, grinning ear to ear. They had a beautiful traditional ceremony, and then were pronounced husband and wife!! After taking some photographs with family, Marika and Frank exited through bubbles their guests were blowing at them! They shared a kiss, and then spent time giving hugs to friends and family.
Everyone headed back to John Joseph Inn, such a beautiful space for their portraits and bridal party photographs! The light was so beautiful, but even more radiant were Marika and Frank and their love for each other. We took photographs outside the house, strolling through the gardens, apple orchards, and ended at the white picket fence surrounding the property. After more family photographs were taken outside, all their guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the garden! Then, an amazing thing happened and the wedding coordinator / venue owner directed all 230 of their guests for a group photo in front of the house! WOW. We did it!
Then, their guests made their way into the tent, with tables adorned with florals, greenery and romantic candlelight. Marika and Frank entered and had the sweetest first dance!! Then, Marika’s parents, her sister and Frank’s best man gave touching speeches about the couple. During dinner, the sun started to set and it was pure MAGIC – so Marika and Frank came with Derek and I as we chased the light across the street. The sun was so glowy and orange and as these two walked into the green field, exchanged kisses and Frank dipped Marika, I was in heaven capturing it!! I wish every one of my couples could do this, it was amazing!!
After dinner was served, guests started to dance and the party really got started!! I loved seeing Marika and Frank out there on the dance floor, and with a lot of dancers it was a ton of fun to capture! After cutting their cake, we strolled outside for night photographs – the most romantic way to end their day!
Marika and Frank, it was such an honor to be your wedding photographer and to know the two of you! Derek and I wish you every joy and happiness in your marriage and life together!
I hope you all enjoy their sweet story and it inspires your weekend!
