Happy 4th of July, friends!! I’m getting ready for a weekend full of adventures at the lake with family, and what a better time than to post these two! I had the joy of photographing the wedding of my 2nd cousin Ryan and his new wife Sharlene a few weeks ago!
Sharlene has been part of the family for years now, and I am so excited to welcome her into the family!! These two have such a classy style, are so adventurous and in love, it’s infectious!
They were married at Bill Miller’s Castle in Branford, Connecticut. I knew this venue would suit them so well because it’s so elegant but also has a rustic touch that is so them! Their style was so beautiful, too – Ryan’s red suit made such a statement and that pop of red in Sharlene’s bridesmaids bouquets! Their day was filled with a lot of family and friends (you can tell by their bridal party these two are loved by so many!)
When I arrived, my cousin Nicole (Ryan’s sister) was doing Sharlene’s makeup – such a talented family! I was in awe of all of her details, the bridesmaid dresses hanging from a giant chandelier, and her gorgeous florals. When it came time for Sharlene to get dressed, her mom helped her and they had such sweet moments together! I loved seeing Shar tear up when her dad came to see her for the first time, and how she read a note from Ryan that she clutched to her chest as if she never wanted to let it go. I had no idea of the fun and antics that were going on with the guys on the Yale University Campus, as my husband Derek was photographing them!
Ryan saw his bride for the first time at the altar! I loved seeing him tear up as Sharlene descended the castle staircase to the patio and walk toward him outside. It was such a sweet moment! Their pastor said such beautiful things about them too, and the influence God has given them to be used together for His kingdom. They shared communion together, and then they were MARRIED! They walked down the aisle and we took a photo of them with all of the guests behind them in the background – such a fun shot!!
Then, cocktail hour started on the back patio and we took family photos – even a few that Derek and I jumped in! Then we took bridal party photos on the lawn as the sun started to set – so beautiful! Of course my favorite time of day is the bride and groom photos – I loved the moments we captured of Ryan and Shar by the rustic cedar shake structure on the property. They are so sweet, I can’t even!! And then we took ones in the garden!
Their reception room was set beautifully, with gorgeous red florals and elegant place settings on their sweetheart table. They even had a cake topper made that looks just like them, on top of their cake!! So cool! The bridal party entered a room full of guests cheering for them, and then the new Mr. & Mrs. Russo came in and danced their first dance! As they danced, they had a slideshow of photos of them together playing behind them. This same slideshow played at dinner, which was so cool to see and reflect on!
Once the dancing started, the party was OFF the hook! Not to mention we have family members that are professional dancers Seriously, the dancing was awesome! At the end of the night, after their sweet parent dances, they had a dessert hour with cannolis and cakes which were so delicious. And we ended the evening with some gorgeous night photos of them by the gates of the castle, just like they had dreamed of!
This day was one for the books! I am so happy for these two and the marriage they will have together! I hope these photographs of Sharlene and Ryan’s wedding inspires your weekend!
