I can’t believe it’s been one month since this gorgeous wedding!! Time really flies in the summer! WOW!
Derek and I LOVED traveling to the Hudson Valley for Kaela & James’ wedding! We had been to their venue, Buttermilk Falls Inn, in the fall several years ago – and it is a magical place. But Kaela and James, I had only met online and loved them right away! They were so sweet and I could tell such a fun couple – they live in NYC, and love traveling together! James comes every now and then to upstate NY and loves Lake George. Their wedding day was simply magical.
Kaela was getting ready in the bridal suite with all her girls in floral pajamas, and she was just radiant! I loved her gorgeous BHLDN dress and its simple lace back. Her bouquet was stunning, with its asymmetrical design, greenery, and bright pink peonies. It was sweet to see Kaela see her dad for the first time, open James’ gift that made her teary!, and toast with her girlfriends – they were so honored to have her as the first of their friends to be married. The light outside was just beautiful and I loved taking photos of the girls out on the patio! Then, we had a little down time before the ceremony – which was set up in front of the big willow tree by the pond. I loved how Kaela and James’ invitation had a willow tree on their wedding signage and in their invitation, to tie that together visually!
James waited for his bride under a birch arch with flowers – and he was so stunned when he saw Kaela walking toward him! They had a sweet ceremony, with several meaningful readings from friends. And before long they were MARRIED! Loved how they kissed as they walked down the aisle as Mr. & Mrs.!
We took family photos, and family photos, outside in the beautiful lighting! And of course I couldn’t resist portraits of Kaela and James in the lighting, so beautiful! Then we walked by the willow trees, down by the pond and stone bridge and even captured a swan in the background. We ended portraits by a beautiful house on the property with an ivy wall and James picked Kaela up in his arms!
Then, these two walked into their cocktail and reception tent and their guests all gathered around and cheered for them when they entered! They enjoyed the end of cocktail hour while we captured reception details. After everyone was seated, Kaela and James came in and danced a beautiful first dance! They had some beautiful toasts, a funny one by Kaela’s dad, both of their siblings and one of Kaela’s best friends. So sweet!
The dancing was under way and all of the guests really had a great time! It wasn’t long before cake cutting, and some night photos of the two of them before twilight. When the dancing resumed, the entire dance floor covered their heads in their sage green napkins – apparently a Kennedy tradition! So fun, loved seeing that energy!
It was such a fun ending to their day! I enjoyed every minute capturing these two, and I wish them every joy in their marriage. I hope you love Kaela and James’ story!
