Happy Friday friends! I am so thrilled to blog Corine & Derek today! I’m preparing for an amazing wedding tomorrow in the Finger Lakes, and enjoying going to the fair with my husband tonight (first time at a NY state fair!) But these two are on my mind, just how sweet they are and how I can’t wait to be a part of their wedding next summer!
I met Corine through my husband Derek, as they have both served in Young Life in the Cazenovia area. As soon as Corine got engaged, she reached out to me and I was beyond touched and honored! I know this is confusing, but Corine’s fiance’s name is also Derek! They met through a church that she now works at in youth ministry and Derek works at in the marketing & communication side. Someone suggested that they try dating each other, and they did – and the rest is history! They have enjoyed serving youth together, and both are naturally such fun, outdoorsy and adventurous people. They have such a natural laughter and comfort with each other, and their love is so inspiring. Their ease and comfort with each other is so sweet to see.
We thought it would be a great fit to do their engagement photographs in Cazenovia, where Corine used to serve in YoungLife and Derek’s relative lived for many years. They love the lake, and also fields – and Cazenovia is the perfect place for that kind of scenery! We met on a side road behind a farm, where there is this amazing barn and field of evergreen trees. We had so much fun exploring the fields, queen anne’s lace, and the evergreen tree grove!
Then, we went to downtown Cazenovia in Lakeland Park and a nearby dock on the lake! That water is so romantic! Then we finished by catching a sunset at one of my favorite places (you may recognize it from some of our personal shoots) – Stone Quarry Art Park! The sunset is always beautiful and glowy there! Just as we were ending our session it became even more glowy, and we had to finish by taking some photographs by the fence!
I had the best time getting to know Corine and Derek better – and I know both my husband and I cannot wait to keep capturing their love on their wedding day next summer! Enjoy their sweet story – I know these two will make you smile!
