You guys – I am SO thrilled to blog these two! I know I always say that, but it’s actually always true! I just love my work and the people I get to know.
And these two, it’s something special. I met Katie Finnerty after moving to Central New York, because I absolutely loved her photography work in Rochester and completely jive with her style. She’s also a natural light photographer that loves chasing light. So I knew we would be friends – and we now shoot weddings together! She was recently married to her best friend, Mike (or Mikey!), this past March. They met at SUNY Geneseo and decided to move to Rochester to start their life together.
It’s amazing being a photographer and being behind the camera for your own wedding! And recently, we were discussing how both of our 1 year anniversaries are this year – and decided to do portraits for each other! I am so excited that Katie will be shooting Derek and I’s portraits this fall. But in the meantime…I had a blast with them in Rochester!
We met at the George Eastman Museum Gardens, where Katie does a bunch of her own shoots, because the light and grounds are just so gorgeous there. And I definitely fell in love and see why it’s such a magical place! From the ivy, to the architecture, to the flowers – there’s no spot that isn’t interesting! We had such a good time there, and Katie and Mike were so relaxed being photographed, I loved it!
Then, we finished at a location closer to home where these two spend a lot of their time, the Fairport Canal. They love to go there on walks at night sometimes, and Katie loves this one taco restaurant on the canal. (I definitely need to try it someday!)
We caught the most GORGEOUS light to end, which is perfect for this light-chaser and her husband! So happy for these two cuties – happy anniversary!
