I am so thrilled to be sitting here at a cafe and being back to blogging!! Our wedding was INCREDIBLE, friends…and I can’t wait to share more with you about the process of being a bride, and tell the story of our day. Derek and I are thrilled, so thank you for all your support! All that is coming soon and I just posted a link to our photographer’s blog post, so hopefully you got to see that!
But I’m ready to keep telling these other stories that I’m blessed to be a part of! It’s been so fun meeting Central New York couples and being able to capture stories close to my new home One of these stories came to me through a dear friend, who said a friend of hers was about to propose to his girlfriend at Beak and Skiff Apple Orchards!
Alex contacted me and was so happy, and nervous…I could tell he wanted to do this right and just make it everything his girlfriend Rachael would hope for. It was so sweet! We went to Beak and Skiff a few weeks before the big date to ride the wagon into the orchards and shout out areas to shoot! For those of you who haven’t been to Beak and Skiff in Lafayette…you HAVE to go! It’s one of Derek and I’s favorite places up here and if you’ve ever been there you’ll know why – it’s the apple orchards of apple orchards, with rolling hills and apples that go on for miles. And their cider doughnuts, such a weakness of mine!
When the day came to photograph Alex propose to Rachael, I was feeling all the jittery nerves he must have been feeling as I hid in the row of Empire apple trees waiting for them to arrive. I texted him my location and was just praying he’d walk down the right row with her. And they did! It was clear when they came that it was just like an ordinary day, they were picking apples, and then she turned around to find him on his knee!! Rachael was smiling so big and actually didn’t seem that surprised! And she said YES!
She told us afterward that she suspected something was coming, but on their way to the orchard she second guessed herself and determined she was just being crazy. But when she saw the sparkly ring she knew it was REAL. (By the way, great job Alex, that ring is gorgeous!!)
Alex and Rachel met in church, they were set up by friends who said “I think you’d really like this girl” and “I think you’d really like this guy.” It’s really amazing seeing them come to this moment in their lives and now begin to plan their wedding!
We had a great time in the orchards, from exploring the rows of apples, to riding back and walking through corn fields, and even catching a rainbow in the sky. What a beautiful sign of promise for them. I wish Alex and Rachael every joy and happiness in this season of life together! Hope you enjoy their sweet story!!
She clearly has no idea what’s about to happen…
