And here it is! My last wedding of 2016! I can’t believe it’s already 2017 – how did that happen?! I have two more posts for you and then I’ll be ready to recap what an amazing year it was and reflect with you But first things first!
Honoka and Adam’s wedding was the PERFECT way to end the year! Their day was filled with so much joy! I knew it would be ever since I met them and of course spent time with them at their engagement session – they were all smiles even then
On the day of Honoka and Adam’s wedding, it was a little snowy – but I was ready for any adventure and I could tell they were too, with her Hunter boots and gloves all ready to go! When I arrived at Honoka’s hotel, I was seriously in photographer heaven with all of her gorgeous bridal details! From her elegant gown, to stunning Jenny Yoo gold bridesmaid dresses, lace invitations, and gold shoes, I could tell this girl had thought of every last detail Her bridesmaids were so much fun in their matching robes. The tears started early when Honoka opened a note from her grandmother in Japan, and continued when her dad saw her in her bridal gown for the first time! And she looked absolutely stunning. The girls were ready to head off to the church!
Honoka and Adam chose to be married at the church of Sts. Cyril & Methodius and St. Raphael in Manhattan. It’s the only Croatian church in the city, and it’s been super important to Adam’s family for a long time! Adam couldn’t believe his eyes when his beautiful bride walked toward them. After their ceremony, these two were MARRIED and their entire bridal party waited for them outside on the stairs with sparklers as they made their first exit!! I LOVED that moment so much!
Then the entire bridal party headed off to the New York Public Library, where we took photographs in the beautiful light up top! It was a little rainy but you can’t even tell, this group was so much fun! We took the most stunning portraits of Honoka and Adam, and some iconic images of them crossing the street in the city! And then we all headed off to their reception venue in Long Island.
Honoka and Adam’s reception was at the Inn at New Hyde Park, and I had photographed there before but not at the holiday time! There were gorgeous trees, fireplaces, ornaments and lights and it looked super romantic in every room So before their guests arrived, we took some beautiful photos of the two of them, then their bridal party in the stone cocktail hour room, and then all of their guests enjoyed the food before the party got started! When Honoka and Adam entered I could tell this night was going to be a blast! There was tons of dancing, and their families danced together in circular Croatian dances as well as more contemporary songs! They hired an amazing sketch artist who created a painting of Honoka and Adam on the dance floor, which unfolded during the evening (SO beautiful!) They danced with their parents, cut their cake, and then their night drew to a close!
I had the BEST time with these two and it was such a great way to end wedding season, celebrating their love! I wish them all the happiness in the world. Hope you enjoy Honoka and Adam’s story!!
