Happy Friday, friends!! I hope you’re all having a fabulous start to the New Year! Next week will be full of recaps about the amazing year that just past, and then onto dreaming about the year ahead! But first, I have one last engagement session to share from 2016! What a beauty
Caitlin and John are such sweethearts! I met them through a mutual friend of mine and John’s, and I immediately loved how sweet they were and hearing about Caitlin’s vision for their wedding this fall at Falkirk Estate. These two met through mutual friends who told Caitlin they thought “this guy” they knew would be great for her. Caitlin and John’s first date was at a bar in NYC, and on their third anniversary, when they were walking to their car, John went to grab the car keys and instead got down on one knee and asked Caitlin to marry him. And of course she said yes!!
When we started planning their engagement session, they wanted to plan a romantic session near John’s family in Ridgefield, Connecticut, since they spent so much time dating there! Caitlin told me there were beautiful cute streets with Christmas lights, so we planned to go to a Christmas tree farm and then end the session amongst the lights. I was so excited by this idea!
Seriously, these two deserve an award for being my most adventurous couple this year. Most of their session was done in 20 degree weather, and they were up for anything, complete with gloves and snow boots! We started their session at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, parked on the side of the road and walking beneath these gorgeous pine trees. Then, to catch some light we jumped off into the woods in our boots – which was so, so worth it! We then hiked up to an area with Evergreen trees, where Caitlin and John set up a blanket, a Pottery Barn lantern and birch candle, and a tree ornament. And we captured such sweet moments there!!
Then, we headed to downtown Ridgefield to see those beautiful lights!! It was getting colder, so we photographed at the Lounsbury House on their porch, of course captured the magical street lights, and then finished the session going inside an ice cream store that sells hot cocoa in the winter! (And apparently hot cocoa flavored ice cream in the summer!)
It was definitely an adventurous day, and I had the best time getting to know these two! I can’t wait for Caitlin and John’s wedding this fall. Hope you enjoy their story, friends!!
