Happy Wednesday, friends! I’m sitting here on this gloomy day so ready to write this cheery post – I think it’s seriously one of my FAVORITE posts all year. It’s so much fun giving you a behind the scenes look at what the last year looked like for me and my business! And even more fun because you’ve seen the photos but all the stories it took to create them.
This post feels like I’m taking you along to work with me – and you’ll know all the crazy and wonderful things that are a part of wedding days! As I reflect on this past year, I’m always just so grateful to do something I’m so passionate about. You’ll see I genuinely have so much fun, too! And another thing is I’m not alone – I have a team of wonderful people that I seriously couldn’t do this without. SO grateful for my second photographers always – and this year a special new member of my team! 😉 So here it is…BEHIND THE SCENES from 2016! Hope you enjoy it, friends!!
It was a hot day but still a good day!
Getting started in the morning, hanging dresses and using walls as props!
Poor Molly had the job of placing this dress over the railing for me! But it so worked!!!
Details, details – how I love details.
Aside from posing pretty bridesmaids my job sometimes entails pinning boutonnieres on grandpa!
This year my team grew by one more – my one and only love! Not only is Derek a great shooter and learning SO well, but he also encourages me to take breaks and sit down, grabs water for me, driving me around in all kinds of weather, and being the person by my side I never knew I needed. I love him so! SO fun when my friend Anastasiia visited to help with this wedding – she’s seriously so talented and so much fun!
This girl, like my right hand this season! Molly is so much fun to be around, an amazing talent, and compliments my work by seeing those little things I miss. You’re the best Moll!
And Jess, always an amazing support and the best detail shooter ever!! And my intern Francesca was so awesome this summer. This team endured with me on a 95 degree day, and I couldn’t have done it without them!
Aaron, he’s such an amazing technical shooter and just nails composition and lighting! Been working with him for years and I just love what he adds to my business!
You know, just sprinkling flower petals and balancing wedding rings upon leaves!
Setting up that first look in the woods! Always a discussion to make sure we all get the right angle at the same time!
Telling the bride to hold on one minute before surprising her groom!
I shot such FUN ceremonies this year! These photos were for Insta, I had some fun sharing with all of you the places I went! Loved that location in Jersey City with Manhattan as a backdrop! But I also love gardens and woods…they’ll always have my heart.
Getting ready before the bride walked down…and my sweetheart was shooting photos of me.
Here she comes!
Doing my infamous “step aside” move before I shoot that shot of Becky’s dad giving her away.
Such beautiful locations!
It gave me such comfort seeing him waiting for me after the ceremony was over – just had to steal this hug!
And this! We had fun doing some portraits with Molly before the guests started to arrive!Testing lighting at receptions – always the most interesting shots of us, haha.
HA! These kids were dancing and Molly was testing her light on me – my face here kills me!
More testing of the lights – before this beautiful shot can get done – we have bridal attendants, light stands, second shooters…the things you don’t know are there!
And of course, my favorite part of the day…couple portraits! Here comes some classic shots of fixing hair and fluffing dresses!
And of course, giving a little direction…
Dresses are high maintenance but it’s totally worth it to get it right!
More veil fluffing, bridal attendants…always part of the scene.
Sure Kate I’ll fix your hair! Just that little piece right there!
Telling them where to stand in the light!
Cathedral veils!! Getting ready to have my assistant toss it for me!
More direction here – this is how you twirl her! They’re pretty ready for it!
And this is how to stand, this angle right here…
So, this was the windiest day I ever photographed. Outdoor portraits were NOT working…so we moved on to a plan B. Most amazing bridal party for trying though!
Just an entire bridal party crossing the city streets for portraits…no big deal!
Derek loved driving the bridal party to the barn on this golf cart!
And, I have to admit, I love driving the golf carts too! So fun!
Such a fun group and such a normal pose here!
Okay, back to back, everybody!
This bridal party was a little excited for Kate and Will!
Loved these girls’ laughter!
Ahh these two and this light!
One of my favorite scenes – the light and the willow, so dreamy!
And I can’t resist beautiful barns!
Love this one with the wind blowing! Great behind the scenes shot honey!
Those mountains behind them – ahh!
I’m cracking up at my stance here – I’m planted firmly in the ground for this shot ha!
And, getting the last shot while drones fly overhead and all!
Loved my new Kelly Moore Bag this year – camel leather is my obsession!
Such a natural shot – just summarizes how I feel about this year and what I do! So excited for what’s to come in 2017
