I am BEYONG excited to share this session with you today! This session was really an adventure, and the perfect example of what it’s like to have an engagement experience! It was such a joy to share in this day with Suzanne and Dave.
I met Suzanne and Dave over a year ago when we started chatting about their wedding day at CV Rich Mansion (next month already – can’t believe it!) I immediately loved what a fun couple they were, how they loved telling me quirks about themselves and stories that really made me know more of who they are.
Dave proposed to Suzanne on a special weekend trip that he planned for her in Newport, Rhode Island. He didn’t tell her where he was taking her, which was really hard for her as such a planner! They went in the winter, and Dave planned to propose to Suzanne in a room with a balcony view so he could pop the question at sunset and have champagne delivered to the room right after to celebrate. The champagne and “congratulations” card came a little early, but Dave wasn’t flustered at all – he asked Suzanne to get ready for dinner, and right before they left for their reservation, he asked her to marry him. She said “wait – really?!” And then of course, “Yes!”
After asking Suz and Dave more about themselves and what they love to do together, I found out Suzanne loves summer, barbecues, and boating. Dave loves music and the outdoors, and gambling. In fact Suzanne and Dave are incorporating a “casino” theme into their wedding. I had a vision of their engagement from the beginning, thinking about summer, Rhode Island – I really wanted them to be on a boat! And then of course, to include some photos with playing cards at the end. We were so lucky – a friend of my family’s knows an awesome family who owns two gorgeous sailboats at Shattemuc Yacht Club in Ossining, and they agreed to take us out on the Hudson River. It was a first time sailing for all of us! Dave and Suzanne have been on cruises but never sailing!
It was such a perfect day, as the wind blew the sails and the sun began to set on the Hudson. They both were so relaxed and comfortable on the boat, and I loved playing with light and seeing how sweet they are together!! It was an epic experience, in every way! Suzanne and Dave also don’t have too many photographs together throughout their 7 years of dating, and I told them I made up for that in the first 20 minutes! After we got back to the yacht club, we took some gorgeous photos on the dock next to the sailboat with the sun setting behind them. Then they changed, and we did photographs with wine and cards; and of course ended with more beautiful sunset shots.
Suzanne and Dave are so sweet together and their smiles are infectious. I already can’t wait for their wedding day next month! Enjoy their story!!
