I am just thrilled today to share this AMAZING wedding!
I just loved Jasmin and Lorne from day one. The first message they ever sent to me told me that they loved not only my work but how I exhibited gratitude, because that is something that they try to do every day. Made me melt! When I met with them, I found out not only do they have great hearts but they are SUPER artistic people! Lorne has played so many unique instruments, Jasmin was an actress and now is a DIY queen!
When it came to envisioning their wedding day, it was clear Jasmin and Lorne had an artistic vision for a woodland speakeasy theme. Jasmin is really inspired by the jazz/gatsby era as well as Art Nouveau – so they tied in these themes into every detail. Jasmin even MADE her own two-piece wedding gown. I was so floored by that – all the time and effort she put into creating such a gorgeous peach colored dress with lace detailing. I just couldn’t wait for their wedding day!
Jasmin and Lorne’s wedding was set at the beautiful Roxbury Barn in the Catskills – one of my favorite places ever! It’s the perfect woodland location with a beautiful pine grove for the ceremony that just leaves you breathless and in awe at these trees towering above.
The day of the wedding was a little rainy in the morning – but of course we were flexible and ready to embrace anything headed our way! Casper, the owner of Roxbury Barn, has a gorgeous home for getting ready with a beautiful porch – so we were able to do tons of photographs there. I captured all of Jasmin’s gorgeous details there, including her paradisiaca sapphire engagement ring, the birds’ nest they made for their wedding rings, her gorgeous bouquet that she made from paper flowers, and a flapper dress for her outfit change later that evening!
When it was time for the first look, you could tell how excited Jasmin and Lorne were to see each other. They got ready in rooms right next to each other, but Lorne hadn’t seen his bride fully dressed in the gorgeous gown she made! There were tears and such sweet moments between them! Then, we took photographs on the porch and in front of the house – and right after we stepped onto the grass, the sun came out for us! The timing was just incredible!
Then, we did a first look with Jasmin and her dad, which was especially meaningful to her on this day. It was truly moving to see how special those moments were for them, and how they didn’t take his presence there for granted.
The ceremony was set up so beautifully in the pine groves with the most gorgeous arch! And I loved how J & L had a sign asking their guests to silence their cell phones and put away their cameras to enjoy the sacredness of the space. It does feel sacred there. Their ceremony had so many meaningful elements to them, from special readings from friends to a guitarist playing a Spanish love song, to their handwritten vows (which made me teary)! They ended their ceremony by jumping over a broom to symbolize the leap of faith that they are taking as they embark on the journey together – and then sealed their marriage with a kiss!!
After taking family photographs, we went back into the pine grove with Jasmin and Lorne to take more photographs of the two of them. I was in photographer heaven with these two and those beautiful trees!!! The sunlight even came out for us and I ran up the hill to capture the magic moment on them!
The barn was set up with so many beautiful details, including a gorgeous faux cake with golden deer Jasmin had crafted the night before when she couldn’t sleep! There is a story to the golden deer – Jasmin really wanted to include those detail in the wedding, and so she started referencing it to Lorne and making an inside joke about it – just so it would have special meaning Haha. All of their art nouveau details were just stunning!
After Jasmin and Lorne entered, they said a special thank you to their guests, and then enjoyed the awesome big band music by the Fredtown Stompers. Some of the guests decked out in jazz era clothing started dancing and tried retro-style dance, which was fun to see! Later that evening, Jasmin’s dad played a song for them on his ukelele – what meaningful moments. We took some STUNNING night photos of Jasmin and Lorne outside in her flapper outfit change, and then they made a second entrance into the barn for their first dance!! They cut the cake, and danced the night away, and tried to set off some sparklers outside (it was 4th of July after all!). Then, all their guests went up the hill to an awesome bonfire set up! The perfect ending to such a wonderful day.
I hope you enjoy Jasmin and Lorne’s story! Wishing you guys every joy in the world!
