I am BEYOND excited for this post!! I have been for months!!
I have been dying to photograph a proposal. I just love the emotions, the surprises, and how beautiful love is when it comes at the most unexpected moments. So you can imagine, when I found out my brother was proposing to his girlfriend Katelyn, I was already envisioning it!
I just LOVE Andrew and Katelyn, and Katelyn has already become a sister to me. I didn’t know if I could make it through photographing without crying! But somehow, I did!
Andrew decided to propose to her on Siesta Key beach in Florida. You should google it – it’s the #1 beach in the country, and for good reason! The sand is white as powder. But the miracle is that the sand is NEVER hot! That’s right…never hot. Andrew and Katelyn go here often and he knew he wanted to include this place in his proposal.
He also knew that she would want her close girlfriends to be involved.
So…he planned a beautiful day full of surprises!
Katelyn’s girlfriends picked her up for lunch, and when they brought her home, an all-afternoon scavenger hunt had begun! Andrew sent her around Sarasota to all of the places that held meaning in their relationship, from in/near her house, to restaurants, to a marina, and FINALLY…to him. At the beach.
At each location, Katelyn received an envelope with clues to the next place to go, and watched a video of Andrew talking to her about the spot he was taking her.
When she finally arrived at the beach, I was in place ready to photograph, and her friends showed her where to find the last envelope from Andrew. In that envelope was a beautiful slideshow put to music, with messages from all of us to Katelyn – my mom, my dad, and I, Katelyn’s friends, and her parents. We all talked about their relationship, how beautiful it is, and how much Katelyn means to us.
So let’s start the story in pictures right there…when Andrew video taped the last clue for her and before she arrived at the beach.
I’m SO excited to share their unforgettable day with you!
I thought she would never find this chair and envelope! She got a little lost but it’s okay, it’s a big beach
Andrew knew just the moment when to come for his girl.
“Do you see what’s on the horizon?” he asked. “You mean those boats?” she said. Little did she know this was a diversion to what was coming up behind her…
She said YES!!! Ahhh!!!!!
I was so happy for my brother and my new little sis!!! And our families were too!
Best. Shot. Ever.
With such a breathtaking sunset, we had to go out and take more pictures…and soak in every beautiful moment!
I love these two more than words can say!!! I’m so happy that I will have a new sister!
Thank you for sharing in their joy, and mine,
